PLANNING YOUR ADVENTURE

Everything You Need to Know Before You Go

06_best_time_to_travel.png

Best Time to Travel:
May to October offers generally drier conditions, excellent wildlife viewing and more manageable 4x4 tracks. November to April brings greener landscapes, birdlife and seasonal zebra movements around Nxai Pan, although rain can make remote roads and salt pans impassable.

07_accommodation.png

Accommodation:
Experience Botswana's wilderness through a combination of remote campsites, established safari camping areas and optional lodges. Campsites in Chobe and Moremi are limited and should be reserved well in advance, particularly during peak safari season.

Border Crossings:
This circular route starts and finishes in Victoria Falls, crossing between Zimbabwe and Botswana near Kazungula. Travellers should allow time for immigration, vehicle documentation, insurance requirements and applicable border fees. Black Leopard can help you prepare for cross-border travel.

Vehicle & Equipment:
A capable, fully equipped 4x4 is essential for Botswana's sandy wilderness tracks. Black Leopard's safari-ready vehicles offer camping equipment, recovery essentials and practical storage, helping you explore remote destinations with confidence. Suitable tyres, tyre-pressure management and careful route planning are particularly important.

Good to Know:
Remote areas such as Savuti, Moremi and the Makgadikgadi require careful preparation, sufficient fuel, water and supplies. Driving conditions change with the seasons, and access to Kubu Island is not guaranteed year-round. Park bookings, navigation and realistic daily distances are essential.
